No you're good running both, I thought your tank was smaller. The more flow the better as long as it's not stirring up or clouding the water with sand.

I honestly think your clowns are just adjusting to the tank, I have my powerheads pointed toward the front of the glass like in a V, with the bottom of the V being the front of the tank. I also think it's good to have some surface agitation so one of them is closer to the top to create some.

How big are the clowns, like smaller than an inch?

Well right now i have them both pointing a V the point of the V being on the back, and yea they probably just hit an inch

So they're pointed blowing on the back wall of the tank? If they are, I'd probably re-direct them to the front of the tank. That way you will not have algae buildup as much on the front glass. I think it's just personal preference but either way you will have a nice current in there with those powerheads.

Make sure you don't have any openings on the powerheads too so the little guys won't get sucked in.

Yea the openings are wayyy to small for them to get sucked in. But thanks :) Ill re direct them. Would I almost be better off putting them on the back glass blowing at the front in a V?

If you have room yeah that would be great. I tried to do it in my 55g but I didn't have enough in the back cause my rock takes up most the tank.

Here's a pic of how I have mine positioned, the left one is kinda angled up front and you can see the other one's got the downward front, I feel like I'm talking yoga hah:

I just got two lil clowns about 3 weeks ago and they love being at the top and near the glass. My powerhead is aimed at the rocks in the middle which might be why they don't swim there. I'll try moving it to the front as well and post results :)

    Clowns FTW!

I had a maroon pair and they would get in front of the powerhead and swim towards it and then turn sideways real fast and let the flow carry them to the other end of the tank. Recreation I guess. MAybe they are a bit small for the flow but then maybe they are lovin swimming against it. If it is to much for them they will swim elsewhere. as far as staying at one end of the tank maybe thats where they chose to host. clowns are cool but very odd fish in their ways.
