hello everyone, I just installed my 2 sureflow 1600 kitson my 2 maxijet 600s.. now I'm probly getting 1400 gph per power head and my mag 350gph sump return pump. the tank looks like a whirl pool!! the fish cant even swim around the tank without getting a 10mph boost once they cross the outlet flow path.. I even have these pumps aimed at the front & back glass to slow the flow a little bit. Is 3000gph too much for corals and fish in a 55 gal tank? will they get use to it? theres so much current the top of the water is swirling around like crazy and both power heads are aim down and towards the front and back glass! well at least no more dead spots that for sure..

Most fish enjoy the current. What kind of corals are you keeping?

I had 4 maxi Mods in a 55 with the 2100 prop on it and it was ok my fish loved it I was dom. sps in that tank though how are the corals looking opening up? mainly the softies.... sps will love the flow as long as it is not direct. fish will get used to it as they will swim through and around the flow...

As long as they are staying open they should be fine. Your SPS will love it.

well I only just added the pumps about 15 minutes ago.. everything looks open except the kenya tree.. my toadstool and featherduster are getting nailed from both sides of the tank with current. looks like a palm tree in a hurricane! lol ::) the yellow gorgian, white polyps are starting to come out too..

All of the leathers should be fine in just about any current. Everytime I change my current my toadstool and kenya's will tip over with the current. In a couple of days they are always adjusted and standing strait back up on there own.

yeah sounds like just give it time and all should adjust ok to the sudden change. just keep and eye out on the softies and move accordingly. as when you change flow lights what not.. a sweet spot for a coral could change then you have to find that sweet spot again for him. do you have them on a timer or some sort of wave maker? I had mine on the wave maker power strip it was alot of chaddering but I dealt with it because all my corals were happy/

they are on full blast 24/7. I may add one more timer for the 2 powerheads to run at different times. really 1 powerhead flow is plenty in my setup but until then, they will run non-stop. I hope none of my green chromis get sucked in the shroud..
