hey all, im wondering if its possible to have too much filtration, especially during the cycle.

just becasue im running 40lbs of LR in a 55 gal tank, and im also running a canister filter full bore with all the foam pads and carbon phosphate bag etc etc.

    i dont have a skimmer

and im thinking about adding some more live rock about `15-20lbs to be exact

so let me know your thoughts.
    thanks

Sounds good to me dude. I think you are one the right track. I wouldn't add any more live rock though. I would add base rock. It is cheaper. And it will seed while you are cycling. Don't be concerned about the lack of color in base rock either.......it will get color in no time flat when your tank starts to mature.

    i third that.
also i would get a skimmer when possible, get a needlewheel one like a coralife or asm. you won't believe a difference the skimmer makes

Well in my opinion I have no clue why would you use carbon during cycle, too much filtration never, to much flow probably yes, but there is things that are beneficial at this time that carbon is depriving your system from, you can just run the canister with pads only
