I just got a G. watanabei and its staying in one place in the back of the tank in one of the caves I built. Now I know its normal that a fish go into hiding for a few days, but I feel like the koralia 1500 is too strong for it? Its really allowing for good flow, and I bought a smartwave that I have yet to install. Do the watanabeis prefer lesser flow?

I personally don't thing that the 1500 is too much flow for this angel. I know they can be a difficult fish to keep and their acclimation can be a little longer. Is he on the smaller side? How big is he? Did he ever come out and get tossed around by the flow?

Shes about 3.5" and it never really swam around, but she is a strong swimmer from what I saw at the LFS. I'm probably just over worrying myself and its probably just acclimating itself.

"It is a powerful swimmer and should only be kept in aquariums with plenty of swimming room. The aquarium must also be large enough to accommodate suitable hiding spots. When newly introduced to an aquarium, Watanabe's angelfish is normally quite shy and will spend a lot of time hidden, but it will gradually become bolder and bolder as it gets used to its new home and eventually adopt a more pelagic living style."

    Theres my answer!
