Too much flow for young clowns?

hey everyone, i recently picked up 2 young (small) clowns, and i have a korailia 2 and 3, also with the flow from my canister i have around 1500gph of movement in my tank (55 gal) and it seems they struggle in the current, and tend to stay to the one side, and when i turn the PHs off they seem to move about the tank alot more....

so is it too much flow and there not strong enough to swim into the current or "up-stream" so to say??

 

Would like to see the setup, with that much water flow and if there is nothing to break up the current streams It might be a bit much.

In the setup that I have, my total water movement is greater than yours, but I break up the current streams by deflecting them off my live rock and running wave-makers so there are some calmer areas in the tank.

If your fish is constantly fighting a direct current stream I can't imagine that its a good thing for the fish.

 

my clown is relatively small, although I've had him for about 4 months. I have about 1800 gph in my 55 and he loves to play in the current. There are spots that are slow but I will see him fly across the tank in the current then swim back and repeat

 

thats just what some clowns do, you don't venture far when your a small slow swimming fish.
i would put a more flow if this is more then just a clown grow out tank
