Too much flow? Need advice

    IMO, you do not have enough flow. Every tank should have 20X turnover at a minimum to prevent dead spots. If you are planning on adding coral, you are most definitely going to need more flow.

    As far as flow, I also have my return pushing between 900-1000gph also. So that puts my flow over 20x. I was just concerned that there was too much flow up front. Thanx though.

    You are right. In most cases, people don't usually take the return pump into account because it is not contributing to flow within the DT. For example, my return pipe is pointed upwards, in order to agitate the surface of the water, thus it is not contributing to flow within the tank. In my old tank, I had it pointing horizontally, about an inch below the surface, and the same goes for that. Looking at your picture, the return is clearly contributing flow to the tank.
