too much LR

    i have a 55g tank w/ 115lbs of live rock. ppl say its to much but the lfs has like 250lbs in thiers and has lots of corals wich im looking for but i do have some fish that i dont wanta give away and been thinking of starting a nano tano tank for zoas. should i take some out? and can LR touch the glass?

    That is not too much rock. You could take a bit out to increase the amount of water your tank can hold and to increase swimming room. I normally try to have 1.5 -2 lbs of rock for my tank and take out or add a bit depending on how it looks.

    As for the rocks touching the glass, I personally don't like mine to touch the glass because I like to play it safe, but I have seen several tanks with rock gently leaning up against the back glass.

    It's better to have at least an inch between the rocks and glass. Not only for room to move an algae magnet or algae scraper, but also for water circulation. It's hard to say if you have too much rock, as not all rocks have the same density and porosity. You can get by with less rocks if you have porous rocks. Or you can put some rocks into the sump in order to present a more minimalistic aquascape.

    that's not too much rock, really depends on if you like it or not. i use less rock in my tank but i prefer to have a more open layout. taking out some to start a nano would be fine.
