    I was thinking the same thing. I think 40-50 lb of sand would be plenty.

    Yeah me too. Sounds like 100 pounds worth of sand in a 55 would give you a DSB in the display.

    Yes, about 100 pounds. It is not sand, but it is eco-complete. I am doing a planted tank.

    Ive had a 55gallon and a 120 gallon loaded about 10 feet away from each other upstairs at once. I was tranferring everything from one to the other, and had zero problems.

    Heres something to think about...we put trust in a couple of pieces of wood not to collapse (AKA A TANK STAND) but we doubt our floors! I did the same thing on my 120 until I thought about that. There is way more in depth measures taken when building a house, and way more area to support the weight, instead of these little stands we use!
