Is it possible to have too much rock in a DT?

I currently have about 100 lbs of nuked base rock and am looking at getting an additional 100 lbs of Marco Key Largo dry rock. I will then get 10 lbs of live rock to help with the seeding. This is a new 125 gal FOWLR tank that I have not yet put together (collecting the pieces). I will have a sump\refugium that I can put some rock in to keep it out of the tank.

    Tanks for the input?

    Joe

Recommendation is 1 to 1.5lbs per gallon. 125 to 180lbs. The more rock you put in the less space for other decorations including fish.

As long as you can stack it to allow the amount of swimming room and coral growth room, than it's not too much.

i guess it depends on your tank dimensions on what is too much. my tank seems pretty full with ~150 lb of LR in a 110. in a more square tank 200 lb may be good. but in a standard 120 the tank is probably going to look really cramped. also IMO i like having my fish have a large area of "open water" to swim in JMO..

That much rock could also create circulation problems.

indeed. lots of dead spots to wry about. would need a good closed loop system with piping all around the tank at the surface and the sand bed.
