normal ro/di water....the water evaporates, not the salt. don't use tap water, unless you absolutely have to and you have to be careful it is usually full of phosphates and other junk that you don't want in your tank

We have to add between 1/2 and 3/4 gal ro/di water daily because of evaporation.

normal, the water evaporates at a rate in which the air can hold it. If you live in the desert, it evaporates faster that say if you lived in a swamp.... if you live in warmer places it will evaporate faster than if you lived in a jungle, lights don't help alot. they add to the evap rate. nothing you can do but to add water everyday or get an auto top off. search on 3reef about them. There's been plenty questions that have already been answered for you!:)

Not always entirely true. I get such bad salt creep/salt evap here, I have to add about a half dose of salt to my top-off. Ive checked and rechecked, and I know I have to. I think its because my tank evaps SO fast (about 2 gallons or a little more a day out of my 40), but I am not totally sure as to the exact reason why.
Cleaning salt off of stuff is done daily here, just like topping off and scraping.

I just push the salt back into the aquarium. Being careful not to hit corals or inverts.
