Top-offs during cycle

    I recently read to not do water changes during my cycle, but should I do top offs?

    You definitely need to top off the tank during the cycle. If you don't, the salinity will be extremely high after those 30 days and your tank will probably be half full if not lower.

    Yes, top off with plain RO/DI.

    Yes top off. +1 to ro/di water, you don't want to have to use water treatment on tap water you put into the tank because this will get rid of the ammonia and such that you want. (Sounds kind of weird when you put it that way). Remember to be patient. Wait for the tank to stop cycling completely, you and your fish will be much happier.
