Ya just gotta love the midwest in the spring. We'll see how long the internet and power lasts.

This is why New Jersey is king - never is the issue "horrible weather". ;D

I hope you have a generator though, and aren't in the areas that are getting hit really hard now.

Thanks. These things are annoying but not the end of the world. I have battery powered air pumps and and a UPS. I'm not even downstairs.

Boy, I just saw news footage of the disaster in Mississippi....not sure who we have amongst us on 3reef from around there, but I sure hope they made out ok.

I do not envy any of those who live in the whole tornado alley area. I hope that all of you in those zones come through the spring season safely.

    Speaking of:

Do any of you have a saferoom or a designated place you go if one is near?

Is it stocked with supplies etc?

How many of you have those tornado warning systems within earshot of your homes?

I cannot begin to fathom even being able to sleep at all during the tornado season. Sometimes the really bad ones seem to hit at night.

Forgive what might sound like silly questions - but living in NY state - well i just do not get this kind of thing. I would really be interested in hearing how you all cope with tornado season. (if you don't mind sharing)

    Hang in there!

I'd rather live here than in OK but we still get our fair share of them. Sometimes multiples on the ground. 5 years ago was 'Tornado Tuesday' there were over 50 confirmed sightings of twisters on the ground in one afternoon. That same day one funnel was dropping right above my house as the NWS was saying there was 'potential' for the storm to produce a tornado. It touched down 2 blocks away and destroyed most of the grain elevator and was gone before the sirens even sounded.
It's not so bad in the day because you can at least see the debris or funnel itself and get a good idea of it's direction. I have a real hard time with the few that form in the dark.
All we have for protection at home is the basement and the weather radio which is on 24/7 from March to November.
The one siren pole is on the HS football field right behind my house.

Glad you're ok Inwall. I sure do feel for those ppl in Mississippi etc. They are getting hammered on today.
