Total Tank Re-Start after 4 years

    yes... bleaching the whole thing....pumps,chiller, fuge, reactors, skimmer...all of it

    You are correct....livestock out....everything else bleached. Chiller pumps .. everything. Including the sand. I will let everything bleach, and then start over. I might add 1 bag of live sand to get the cycle going. but total re-do.

    Ok...here is the new reef design. It is a double island design with a lot of stairstepping flat spots for coral later. If there is one thing I learned over the past 4 years is to keep it simple. No rocks are interlocked like before, so easier to remove if needed.

    Fired up the RO/DI and confirmed that it was putting out 0 TDS. Probably will take 2 days to fill. I will then add salt, and fire up pumps and skimmer. I will let the rock "Cure" in the tank for about a week. Hopefully this will cycle the tank. I am sure that I am going to see a major Diatom outbreak, due to the fact that I re-silicone one of the tank corners.

    All Pumps, Koralias, UV, Reactors etc....Bleached, rinsed and dry.

    I almost made the decision to sell everything when I had it all broken down. But I love this hobby, and will give it another go.
