Will do, but don't expect the truth from me...if he dies and one of you asks me a month from now how he's doing I'll never admit to you he's dead out of shame:-[

No need for shame. We have all made mistakes, and or lost fish. Just learn from it. Anytime you add fish you'll get a little spike in the levels as your tanks bacteria adjusts to the new fish. 1ppm is a little high, but like others said your tank was still very young. Clowns are a tough little fish he should be fine. Just keep an eye on those levels for a bit.

The water seems to be cloudier than before from what I can only guess is bacterial bloom. I'm trying my hardest to get this down. Way harder than freshwater IMO. Course this is my first attempt at fish husbandry in years so I'm slowly getting the hang of it again.

My wife is convinced that shes cursed by the spirit of Ace the goldfish-whom she killed by overfeeding while watching it for her neighbor when she was 8- to never be able to keep a fish alive.

 Just let the tank run through the cycle. Run carbon if you have it.

Will do, I have 3 50 gallon rated bags of carbon, but I've had em for about a month so maybe they need to be changed.

The only way that I know when it's time to change the carbon in our tank is when I can smell the fishtank :)

I'm guessing that you have the carbon set up in such a way that water flows through it, right? If water doesn't flow through the carbon, it's not going to "work."

Yeah, I have 2 of them in the cannister filter and another in the sump. It does smell like fishtank again though

When you say that you've got one in the sump, is it just sitting on the bottom of the sump or...? I ask because if it's just sitting at the bottom of the sump, water is not passing through it.
