Just want some input about media that may help in eliminating toxins from all the soft coral I keep. I only have 2 LPS and all the rest are soft. My Toadstools don't show their polyps hardly ever. They are the ones I am trying to help primarily. I tried carbon in a fluidized bed but didn't see any change. What are other suggestions for helping with the chemical warfare?

Carbon is the best thing for removing toxins from the water.

It's; Super Activated Black Magic. If not toxins, what else could be affecting the Toadstools.

IME, flow makes a massive difference to the frequency and fullness of polyp extension
I know these species are often described as mod to high requiring, but many people including myself until recently do not fully understand what is meant by high flow

my soft leathers , finger and toadstools are doing better since my flow was increased to accomodate SPS -
LPS on the other hand are not enjoying the increased movement

Leon, most of my corals are soft and LPS (with a few sps pieces). I run activated carbon in a phosban reactor 24x7 and I change it out every month. My toadstools like medium flow, a few months back I had to move one of them over a few inches because one of my frogspawns has gotten too big and I think it was stinging the toadstool. Could it be that another coral is touching your toadstool?

As you can see, they are spaced and I even added the Nano Koralia in the left corner for the largest Toadstool.

Picture enlarged and I believe I can see 3 Toadstools in there? and all have retracted polyps at time of photograph

from the picture I note 2 larger Korallia or K type wavemakers and the return outlet al aimed at top half of water
and the K nano aimed down wards towards left corner towards the largest toadstool

I aslo feel that the corals on the right side of the tank, frogspawn and finger leather, look great in terms of expansion
but on the left side only the yellow polyps are looking great ( a larger image may change my perception Im not sure)

if it where my tank, Id be tempted to angle the bigger Korallia on the left side more towards the front of the tank so a bit bounces of the front glass and creates a bit more turbulance in the left half of the tank

I would even be tempted to move the larger of the 3 toadies to the upper part of the reef and allow the large Korallia as it is to be directed over the top of it

as you say, they are not close enough to anything really and you run carbon so I find it hard to believe its chemical warfare thats the problem
