they took a look at my mats , but they way theyre secured and configured , they couldnt interfere with the pedal. so i was all good that way. one other reason for the floor mat problem they found, was some of the after markets were thicker , so if they got wet, theyd swell up and become a problem too.

i got a recall on my IS350 about the mats (and 3 or 4 other things too). i don't get the mat thing myself, it's always been completely flat and fits nicely... the kind of finish I expect from Lexus. Anyway, Lexus told me they don't have replacement mats and I said I don'[ care... and i really don't.

also had recall fixes for a potentially explosive fuel line thing and some steering linkage part and some brake dust shield or something... I never noticed any problems and I love this car more than any other car i've ever had.

yeah the is350 is a nice car, i dont really know much about the floormat situation with lexus, except from what i have heard was that an accident in an es330 kinda started the whole floor mat deal. which is seperate then the sticking pedal which i dont think appllies to any of the lexus cars. i think they all use the denso pedals.

they may come out with a modification for the IS, not sure though.

I have never and will never own Japanese cars. Just me, I have my reasons and will keep it to myself. I personally think too many people have jumped on the "hey, it's Japanese it must be good" bus. Yeah, my name is vdub on here and I have owned lots of them (12). I like them and will be the first to admit they're garbage. Thats why they sit and I drive my old $500 jeeps everyday because they never break and if they do the parts are dirt cheap and VERY readily available at most stores.

Almost all of this is a lack of common sense on the driver's part. Sure, a part is not quite working as it is supposed to, but common sense says to put the car in Neutral to prevent an accident.

All manufacturers have issues, but it is how they handle it. Toyota is doing a great job handling this smear campaign by ignorant people.

The funniest thing is that the recalled throttle pedal is made in the USA, the cars with japanese pedals don't have the issue. I had to explain this to a friend the other day and he was shocked.

FWIW, I drive a 4runner, and its made in japan, so no issues. This is our 3rd 4runner, and far from our last toyota.

yeah toyota is doing pretty well in my opinion dealing with it, only time will tell. unfortunately every time features are added on to a car more parts are added, so more parts = higher chance of failure. granted most of these features add so much as far as safety and efficiency that its more then worth it. you add that with more regulation for emissions (which is a good thing imo) cars just arent as reliable. That goes for all makes not just toyota. dont get me wrong i am definitly in the new generation of mechanics that appreciate technology, it just changes what a car actually is.

BTW alot of japanese made toyotas (are/will be) still affected by some gas pedal /floormat related recalls. just not the A0A

I just got my 2010 Camry fixed on Friday. The dealership was wonderful, and gave me a loaner car so I could go about my business. This is my second Camry, and I truly love that car. I havent had any problems out of either one.

yeah it does seem that most dealers (even ones with bad reps) are doing a pretty good job at keeping up with what toyota is promising. although i have heard some places are only taking minimal numbers of cars per day.

This is a tough one for me not to speak on haha. I have owned many german cars and feel they are a great auto. I have had many vws, audis, porshe, etc. I own a comany that has had a fleet of 8 ford trucks and after numberous issues non stop we switched everything to Gm products(Chevy). I also just traded in my wifes pathfinder for a 2010 toyota 4runner. I will give my .02 that her japanese cars never broke..... Ever... Out of the 7 chevy one tons and 2 chevy 3/4 tons oldest on is a2006 they constantly break one required 2 trannys before 50k and two others also got trannys, One got a motor, one got a wiring harness, another keeps blowing air bag sensors and has not as of yet but could cause the air bag to release. The pathfinder had extreamly high miles with turn key every day. My Trucks at work are maintained like crazy and if japan would build a one ton truck for landscaping you better believe id buy 10 of them. German and japanese cars just go...and go.... and go..... My found on road deads were just that and the chevy service departments laugh when I ask them when they started carrying koler(toilets). Just my .02 and I appoligise for venting there just got a repair bill back on the truck that needed the motor right after having all the injectors replaced at 450 a piece for the parts then motor pops and darn they could have at least taken me to dinner first!
