I have seen some pople start a thread on their tank so i thought i'd start mine.

I started up the tank back in the last week of may.
Still no fish but here are some pics of the process...

Day 1 with Live Sand & Saltwater

    Day 2
    [IMG]

    Day 3
    [IMG]

After the 3rd day i added 68 pounds of live rock from the lfs.

Moved some rocks around after the dust settled...

Took this pic around the end of June (i change the bulb to a 50/50 bulb)

This was a couple days ago after a 30% water change (had PH problems)

    This was taken tonight

I think i'm doing pretty good - especially my patience I think i've been awesome with the patience and waiting till it balances out to get a fish...

Starting to get some coraline to gro although the brown algae is covering most of the rocks it'll go away someday...

    Some details:

    46 Gallon Bowfront
    40 lbs Live Sand
    68 lbs Live Rock
    18 Gallon Sump (new)
Emperor 400 (until sump breaks in)
    2 K3s
    1 Maxi-Jet 400

    Last test:
    pH: 8.03
    Nitrate: 10
    Nitrite: 0
    Ammonia: 0
    Alk: 12
    Spec Gravity: 1.024
Phosphate: 1.0 + (high i know, but i'm not getting inverts)

Started the tank with Tap water but got a RO unit last week.
I think that explains the high phosphates - although i did add 50g of phosban. I'll update that next week when i test phosphate again.

Plan on getting a False Percula Clownfish next week.

After phosphates are stable for a while i'll get a CUC.

    Please comment the tank!
    Thanks for looking :)

May I suggest pointing a powerhead to the surface to bust it up and cause some surface agitation? It looks like the surface layer of water is quite stagnant, and it would help increase your total dissolved O2

How do i know when there is enough flow on the top?
Right now it looks like a strong current moving around at the top and ripples.

The Sump is kind of a wet/dry sump, the water is emptied into a media drawer, then trickles over ceramic rings. - Does that count as generating oxygen?

one way to know that you dont have enough flow on the top is if you have a film like substance just chillen up there on top of the water. Yoiu dont have an overflow box, so most likly there willb e a film on top if you dont have any flow up there.
