I think most of you know how I'm feeling right now ;D

After two years its time for an upgrade to a reef-ready tank! This ting is über sleek as well. 3/8" Starphire, Black silicone, 36" stand, and its a rimless! I won't be able to get pics for a week and a half as I bought it without livestock so the old owner has to transfer that out first. Its dimensions are 36"x26"x22" with an overflow in the center left.

This system will be a ULNS and have no refugium. (*gasp* what did he just say?) The sump will simply contain a large skimmer, (most likely) pellets, an ATO and that's it!

    Current Equipment List:
    • Reef Octopus Diablo 160
      JNS Alpha Pellet Reactor
Waveline DC5000 DC controllable return pump
      AI Sol Blue
      2x 150w Eheim Jäger Heaters
      BRS Deluxe RO/DI
      Tunze Streams
      24X12 Berlin Sump

    Future Equipment Upgrades
    • Avast Marine Deluxe ATO
    • Apex Aquacontroller Jr
    • Kalk Stirrer
    • Tunze Comline Wavebox

I'm still waiting on my Tropic Eden Sand to see whether I prefer reef flakes or the finer grades.

I really tried to do something special with the aquascape, and I made the massive overhand on the right to encourage flow. The scape actually only touching the base in the tank in 4 places and is very airy. Plenty of space for SPS.

I'm also trying something new and using the Red Sea Coral Pro salt instead of Salinity
I bought a nice refractometer for this tank so salinity shouldn't be an issue

Thats all for now, thanks for looking.

Sounds like an awesome build! No fuge is an interesting way to go about it but of course those German and French reefers have had success with their strategies. A magnificent foxface would be a great addition! Im looking forward to seeing your progress with this tank.

holy crap man! how do you afford a build like this?! its gonna be a great build indeed though. rimless tanks are the way to go imo.

for live rock i would suggest marco rocks. they have just about every type of rock you could think of.
also have you thought at all about going with led's? the initial price for led's vs. halides will be alot more but it will save you alot more in the long run.

A few pics to show you the size of this tank. The rock isn't in there now, these were from the original owner.

Hi there. You have some good plans with this tank. I can't wait to watch and see it progress. I'm sure it will turn out quite well, Louis.

Thanks man. Yeah I was sifting through all the great SPS TOTMs on various sites and I noticed that 90% of the time the tanks didn't have fuges, or having one in the past but shutting it down. Instead they used nutrient export methods like the ones I mentioned above.

I paid almost nothing for the stuff I bought. The tank is in excellent condition as well, not a single scratch. Stand is perfect as well. Thanks for the tip-off on rock.

    Yay!

Yeah, I'm keeping this as an ULNS. Plus most of those fish are large.

Thank you Sean, your DIY skills with your 29 will inspire me with this tank.

So fishwise I'm thinking a couple of wrasses might be cool.
