A friend of mine wants to buy my 55gal upright. I told him to find me a 75gal buy it and we can trade straight up. He's in for it. My question is are there any specific things I need to look for when getting a used 75gal ?? Dennis on here mentioned something about making sure no copper was ever in it but I can't remember the details? I'm sticking with fish and live rock only for the set up. Thanks for any tips!

That dennis guy must know his stuff! Lol. Just make sure no copper was used in it because I know we always start with fish in mind but end up with a full blown reef in the end, especiallyIif you hang with me. Lol.

I feel dumb asking, is there something that copper does in a 75 gallon that it doesn't do in a smaller tank? Erm.. Why is the advice to avoid copper?

Copper will kill inverts and coral. Some fish as well.

Also, get a drilled tank. it will make it much easier to have a sump etc

As long as the tank is thoroughly cleaned it should not matter if copper was in it or not. Am I missing something here??
    Congrats on the new tank.

this... the tank is empty and will be cleaned, why does it matter if there was copper in it before or not?

I agree with Vinny Clean the tank well and don't worry about the small "bits" that might be left behind. It's like the ocean, Take a wize in it and will YOUR fish ever know the effects?! Use some common sense and put things in perspective :)
