Transfering sand to new set up

    Thanks for all of the responses. I just picked up the new 120 (tank, stand, canopy, mega flow kits) today;D. I am in the midst of getting things plumbed so that I can do a fresh water test soon. I have a couple of questions about the plumbing :confused: but I will ask in new threads. Dont want to get in trouble with the thread police.:eek:

    Im new to this but won't you be putting new water in there any way so it will cycle anyway right?

    Maybe I am wrong but I had heard that you want to use as much of the existing water when either transfering to a new set up, or when the existing set up is to be moved.

    This is a misconception that most ppl have. The water doesnt cycle, its the LR and LS that does. The reason why most ppl try to keep as much water as possible in the transfer is b/c this way, the transfer wont affect the livestock as much. Luna

    I would just clean it real good with saltwater and try to add it back with some kind of funnel connected to a tube like that you don't stir it up that much. The water will still get a bit cloudy, but it will go away.
