You can purchase these however I think its best to wait for hitchhikers. Acro crabs can sometimes be picky about their host. I got lucky enough to get one on my tenuis from Reef Empire :)

unfortunately im just sticking with LFS acros. IMO its too much for however much the coral is (60+) and that 40$ shipping LOL.

do they only host acros? or any other SPS?

Theres Birdsnest ones and etc. THey host what they like like any other animal. Ive heard some say they do fine without the SPS and some say they die months later without one....

:) My two big colonies from RE with shipping was only 150$ I would have paid more at an LFS lol. for the two. But if you have a good one then should be good to go! By all means get them if you want. but just saying what i know... as for size they stay pretty small I believe around 1 inch.

There are many species of commenceral crabs. There are about 15 that are regularly seen within the hobby.

Trapezia is an acropora and pocillapora hosting crab. It will NOT host any other type of SPS. In my experience, they are very picky on what they will host. Your best bet is to just get a frag/colony that has one hosting already, unless you have a selection for it to choose.

They stay under 1" in size. I have never seen larger.
I have never had one survive without the protection and food source of a host coral.
I have always had much better survivability, growth and color in corals that are being hosted.
