Here is a picture of what I was able to put together for now just to dose them for 4 days with this for their "Hole-In-Head" General Cureâ„¢ Powder - API

Now is this tank ok to live them in for about 4 days while I try and treat the hole in head? What should I do to make sure they are okay and should I feed them normally?

    Thanks.

Also, can I overdose with this medicine? Because one packet is for 10 gallons and I think that is 2 gallons or maybe even 1 so I tried my best to just get 2/10 or 1/10 of the mix I made in there.

Well I just walked in and both my clowns were at the bottom of the hospital tank gasping and not moving so I pulled them out and put them my 30 gallon. I hope they dont die but it sure does seem like they will...It just seems like I bought them and they weren't healthy because how could they get this disease from my tank when it is only 6 weeks old?

I'm just really depressed and frustrated and I dont know what to do...

I'm really sorry. I don't know much about diseases, so I can't help you. But I am really sorry!!! I hope it works out.

I am sorry, but it seems not much one can do with a tank that new, normally, a new tank of 6 weeks old is actually at its peak of its normal maturing wiht high toxics. It is quite inappropriate to stock any fish or even corals until you have a tank with acceptable water parameters.

For the time being, the best thing I would sugegst for those fish is to try to stock them back into the place (local FS) where yoou got them if the place is friendly enough and wait for your tank to mature.

In case of setting up a hospital tank, it is always a good approach to serious fish/coral keeping. I would prefer to use sterilized water from your main tank for the hospital tank in order to let the fish be easy to adept to the new envirnment. A word on any medication you planned, please make sure you know it is the right thing to treat your fish and carefully follow the protocal on the instruction.

M8, were they eating??? Try to see if they are comfortable, I mean try not stress them, With wat i've read, its due to nutritional deficiency. Try to confirm if its really hole-head disease. I for one can't help more, hopefully the most experienced one might be of greater help. I just hope ur clowns will get better.

Can we get some pictures? As far as I've read hole in the head is pretty rare in clowns, and occurs more in tangs and angels.

If they do have it I would keep them in the main tank. Hole in the head is not something you can truly treat with medication. It's more of a living condition, stress and nutrition related condition. Soak you food in garlic and make sure you are feeding some vitamin rich foods. Check all your water params and if possible check for stray voltage.

Any more detailed info you can post about your system would also be helpful.

Don't give up yet. We will get this figured out.

Alright thanks guys. I moved them to the bigger tank and now they are both swimming around. The only problem is the smaller darker one, which was the one not eating much before, is not eating at all now where as the bigger one is eating a lot.

I would love to give you pictures but my stupid camera will not show the holes that I am talking about because it sucks lol sorry. I am going to try and get one of my friends cameras and get back to you on this.

My water param. are as follows

    pH 8.2
    Temp. 78
    Salinity 1.024
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 5
    Calcium 380
    Age 7 weeks today

    Supplements:
The only thing I use is Purple Up and as you can see it isn't helping my water calcium levels at all!

    Filter Media:
    Phosguard
Filter Pad that came with it.
    Purigen

    Lighting:
    2 T-5 31 Watt bulbs

    Food:
A blend of Brine, Mysis, and garlic fish food flakes.

If there is anything else you may need please let me know! I hope I can save my clowns!

Well if for nothing else other than piece of mind, you tank looks to be in check, and it's not your fault. If you can get a couple more varieties of food to try. Most fish really like blood worms. Also get some liquid garlic to soak their food in. If all else fails I would try live brine shrimp. I've never seen a clown fish turn it down.

What do you have as far as flow in the tank. If the fish were gasping, I wonder if there is enough oxygenation of the water? Just make sure you have a couple of powerheads creating disturbance at the surface of the water. This will help with oxygenation.

As far as anything else, I'd hold off on any medications for now, and just continue trying to feed them. If you can eventually get some pictures up, that will help us confirm your diagnosis, and we can suggest treatment accordingly.

One other thing - why are you dosing purple up? It is usually only a good idea to dose what you test for. So, for example, if you test for magnesium and discover it is low, add more magnesium. Rather than adding a mysterious mix of chemicals such as purple up. I am not suggesting that this is contributing to your clowns' condition, just a general suggestion.
