+1 on taking things slow. Ich is an unpleasant thing, but it usually won't kill your fish quickly or at all, especially if you have a UV. Definitely take things slow. By rushing all the different treatments you will stress them and lower their immune systems, actually making the problems worse. You are doing well. We all have some
    bout with some disease.

It amazes me that people will "upset" the entire tank causing more stress instead of using Kick-ick which is safe and the tank stays peaceful. Oh well.........

I've found over the yrs more tangs dies from the cure then the pest. Ich is not mush more then a stress induced cold . Ich is just a bug that has a cycle that includes a host fish and when the host fish get stressed their slime coat is not as healthy as it should be the parasite comes up finds a weak fish and the cycle starts .

We have 95% all tangs I've always keep mostly tangs and I have always seen them become infected with ich even yrs after the last fish where put into the tank spring and fall seems to be the peak times I also fine for the out breaks No data just an observance on my part .

The best treatment I have found to always work best is bumping the heat up to 82 F or 83 F then I just turn up more air stones in the sump to help with oxygen depletions from the higher water temps. This speeds the parasites life cycle and every time they drop off the host fish and re enter to sand the host builds a little more immunity to them..

Last fish in point we had was a Small powder Blue he broke out the next day then the Hippo the sail fin and convict where never bothered the Hippo was fine in a week and then the P/Blue had his put breaks on and off for the next 2 yrs but its been since last spring that I saw any signs on him .. Aside from the occasional bumps on the sides . But stable water conditions and proper diet 99.99 Vegetable matter not meat and as much dissolved oxygen I can keep in the water is the best preventive I have ever found for common Ick. Tangs demand as pristine water and many corals .. That pure clean reef water is where they live..

This is why ammonia Nitrites nitrates Phosphates and oxygen levels are very important to them..

But all white specks are not ich you have to learn the difference . As not all brown spots on a human is a simple freckle some can be a cancer ..

Well stated Tangster, you re-emphasis my point. Your solution (like mine) is a better method. That's what these forums are all about, learning. Another great product to prevent ick break outs is "Marine-Max" by Tropical Science. It boosts the fishes immune system and replenishes their slime coat.
