    Hi,
I had a problem with my metal halide light today. I now need a new one and it might take a good couple month before I get it (I want that LED one ;D)
I have allways keep these clams under strong metal halide and now, all I have is a 120 watt power compact on a 25 gallon tank.

    will my clams be fine?

How big are the clams? And please, do the math for me. How watts per gallon does 120 watts over a 25 come out too (I'm "math stupid" and don't have calculator in front of me at the moment) :D

    clams are about 10cm long. 125 watt for 25 gallon = 5W/g ;D

Thanks :D I think you should be fine if you keep your clams as close to the lights as possible. I wouldn't go longer than a month or two without halides though so hopefully, you'll get them soon!

As acarrig pointed out you will want to keep your clam as close to the light as possible, possibly increasing the duration that the lights are on to offer your clam more time to carry out the benefitws employed by its zooxanthellae, especially since you had a decrease in light PAR and PUR due to halides out of commission.
If your clam shows signs of duress due to the decreased lighting, I would try to bring your clam to your local pet shop to see if you could keep it there till your new lights come in...just a suggestion!
Crocea clams should be placed in your rock work also as is the case with Maxima's! Squamosa nd Derasa clams should be placed in the substrate1
    Good luck
