The Niger will probably attack the blue throat as they are more aggressive. With that said your tank is too small for the Niger imo. They can reach a foot in length.I wouldn't risk it. Your tank is just under 150 gallons and the blue throat will get fairly large (9")as well. ;)
You must post pictures here or Cheryl will ban you.:)

Well I wouldn't exactly say a 5 ft by 2 ft tank is a square but I think you might be able to have a blue throat with a Niger trigger in there

Nigers are much more aggressive then BT's so I would be very wary of adding them together.Nigers can get a foot long and your tank (under 150 gallons)is too small imo. I wouldn't risk it.Pictures of your BT please.;D

I am not a trigger expert and Vinny and I don't always see eye to eye but I think nigers are one of the tamer triggers out there ime. Understanding that you may have to rehome the niger at some point, if you get it small, your tank could keep it for a while. Is your blue throat passive or aggressive?

I believe blue throats are passive. Clown triggers although beautiful are very aggressive as ate queen and Titan triggers if memory serves correct. I always though Niger, blue throat, and I think pink tail and crosshatch are the calmer ones that are semi reef friendly. Would def research before buying though and ask for some first hand experiences if I were to purchase as is been awhile since I read up on them.

IME Triggers can start out to be very good community fish.Passive even. However they tend to get nasty as they age. Also they bite; making tank maintenance a real adventure.Ouch they hurt. My main concern is there mature size in your system.;)
I will alert Jerry as he has kept a few triggers in his time so he can weigh in for you.

I would steer away from the niger. I had one that started as friendly as can be and 6 months later it went crazy. Killed 3 other fish in the tank and became really aggressive. I now have a male blue throat in my 125 and he's very passive. I would think in time the niger would show aggressive behavior towards your blue throat. My yellow head sleeper goby will chase away the blue throat if it gets close to its hole and the blue throat is three times his size. Pretty funny to watch.
