ive been doing a lot of reading and ive decided to do a 240 gal fowlr as my first tank. reef looks harder to start with and i really like trigger fish. im thinking of haveing a few triggers (humu niger) a few wrasses and some oter aggresive fish in the tank. i want really colorful easy fish. any advice and suggestions would be a big help.

clown, bursa, humu humu, red tooth, red tail, pinktail, humu rectangle are nice trigger fish but only a few could fit in a 240 with other fish. wrasse are nice along with angels, large hawk fish, puffers, big damsels and clown fish, tangs, rabbit fish, and squirrel fish can be housed with trigger fish! HTH.

I would suggest getting a RO/DI filter since you appear to be thinking of doing a reef in the future. This will give you great super clean water to start and help keep algae problems that come from using tap water to a minimum.

Yes I also am doing a "non reef fish" tank as my second tank. My mixed reef is so beautiful with the corals and the fish are nice too in there but Ive always wanted say triggers and puffers and all the things I cant put in my reef tank.It will be like having the best of both worlds.
