I traded in a leather covered rock that wasnt doing so well in my tank for two pieces of frogspawn. I love my LFS anyway. Those guys are great.
I hang out in there when I get bored of looking at my own tank.

Anyway... this is my first venture in to corals. The frogspawn was attached to a cylindrical piece of hard coral (I believe).. looks like bone, or is this actually a piece of the frogspawn?

Just trying to figure out the best way to place it so it does well.
Does it matter if the "bone" material is touching rock.. or just the slimy frogspawn needs to be touching? LOL

The cylindrical piece is the coral's skeleton. It is perfectly fine for that part to touch the rock but you do not want the fleshy part of the coral to touch anything. Be careful when moving/handling it as well because if you damage the flesh, you could kill the coral.

Awesome thanks. I stuck one of the skeletons down in a hole in my rock. The other slid through a hole and is just hanging there and the flesh is quite close to the rock. I think I may need to move that one. When these split or spread, how does it do it? As far as does the skeleton grow another section or does the flesh just keep getting bigger?

New heads will grow from the skeleton. :)
