MY mother thinks I'm absolutely nuts for having all these tanks (she doesn't know I'm up to 4 now)!

I guess you could keep one in a refugium, but if you're refugium is like mine (in the sump), you've never see the mantis! Part of the fun with Bo is the interaction. He's particularly fascinated with our dog - it's pretty funny to watch.

Don't forget about the freshwater tank in the kitchen that has been running continually since you were 4 years old! ;D

Jwin and I were bugging Bo today (actually I wanted to see if he would come out and hit the tongs, which he did).

It's been almost a year since my last post on this thread. Sad times in mantis-land. Last week, we found Bo dead in his den. He had been really lively right before, smashing snails like crazy. Usually, he would go into a molt right after a time like that so I didn't really get concerned when he "disappeared." A few days later, I got Jwin to start looking for him with a flashlight. He found him in his den and didn't think he was moving. He didn't look like he was in the process of a molt, so we don't know what happened. I don't know the life expectancy of a G. smithii - we had him a good year and a half and he really hadn't grown since we got him - he had molted many times, but pretty much stayed the same size. So, his tank is still running with nothing but the purple pseudochromis. :(

I'm considering leaving the pseudo in there and converting the Biocube 14 to a frag tank. I've actually had success trading a few frags at the LFS. 8)

Of course, Jwin wants me to upgrade to a peacock mantis in a Biocube 29, so will another mantis tank build be in my future???? :-/
