I dont really have bad algae but i do get a mild brownish film on my glass and sometimes my sand. Which is better Trochus(turban) snails or Astraea snails? Also what would be good for cleaning algae of the sand??? I'm not counting on either of those snails to do a whole lot for my substrate.

They both work on different algas, but will do well with your brown algae. Trochus get about twice the size of Astreae snails and can right themselves, Astreae can not. Ceriths and hermits will help in the sand.
