If you can start compiling info on fish like min tank size, reef safe, aggressive, water quality needed, difficulty, susceptibility to diseases, general notes, etc. I can start on the app, using Google's creator as well as Oracle and start adding fish and info. PM me if you're interested.

Yup, I got a couple free stink eyes for looking at a fish, talking with the LFS guy, then doing a quick search just for piece of mind. I guess he thought I was price checking or something, which isnt true cause when I go for livestock I already know prices and have an agenda. I just search in case its something I cant live with out or sometimes out of curiousity.

My closest LFS of any variety is an hour one way so I mean I really could shop online for cheaper if I wanted to. And it would definitely be cheaper if I had to return something.

I do agree with you though, who cares. If they arent gonna give me time to figure out how to spend my money then they wont get any of it.

I haven't looked at in a while but last I heard apps made with googles app maker isn't compatible with the android market so it would need to be converted first. From what I've read google has been working on fixing this for a while now.

Never mind, I can't do it. My 1.3GHz single-core computer crashes when I load up Eclipse or an AVD. I could still do it in app inventor but you would have to scan a QR code to get it and it wouldn't be as good. I'll see if I can get a friend to do it.

Here would be the question though. What source would the data/pictures/whatever some from? Have to think copyrights, information freedoms & things like that.

That's why if I find a way to do it, I'd basically help from everyone on 3reef, I can come up with some general stuff, but I have only 2 fish and don't have much experience with some of the common fish, much less exotics. If I can get Eclipse running (doubt it) I will be asking everyone to help submit info and pics.

Data isn't copy written, facts about fish is common knowledge. Most pictures you would find on google images of fish were never copy written.

This would just be an online collaboration of information that is already readily available.

Actually, (I don't recall where I read this) pictures are copy-written the moment they get posted to the web unless stated they are for free use, at least in the US anyway. I will have to look that up though.

    Looks like you are right.

"Q. How do I copyright my works?

    A. A copyright originates at the moment a work is created. For a written work, the copyright comes into existence as the words are typed, printed, or saved to a computer disk. For a photograph, the copyright is created at the moment the image is developed. If a photograph is taken with a modern digital camera, the copyright originates at the time the image is saved on a computer disk or on a hard drive. As long as the work exists in tangible form or can be understood or reproduced with the aid of a machine, it is copyrighted."
