    My plan was in the display tank has a "built wall" of live rock with lots of holes and crevices...

    The only thing I am a little fuzzy with is the required filteration, by the sounds of it haveing some liverock in the sump would be better than a mechanical filteration.

    There is one thing i have to keep in mind is that the sump is only 12" by 12" (square) so there isn't a tonne of space to put lots in here, but obviously with all the live rock in the display tank the filteration should be sufficient without the need for an extra mechanical filter... I think? :) hehe

    The rule-of-thumb with LR is to use 1.5 - 2 lbs/gal (US). I divided mine between the DT and the sump, as I wanted a little more swimming space for my fish. However, extra won't hurt anything (I actually have a total of 65lbs combined). Another important point is circulation- The total of all pumps, filters, etc. will need to equal 10 - 20 times the tank's capacity per hour.
