Stickman, I got the same set up pretty much. I got 2 HOB filters 1 is for up to 75 gallons and the other is for a 10 gallon haha=Just a little more oomf as i say haha both just running regular filters with carbon inside.
    and this protein skimmer
AQUARIUM FISH TANK PROTEIN SKIMMER FILTER 180 W/ PUMP UP TO 40-80 GALLON TANK | eBay
I am about to order this UV sterilizer also.
9W AQUARIUM SUBMERSIBLE UV STERILIZER W/ BUILT-IN PUMP | eBay
Then I am set! oh and the DI system will be in the works too just need to wait till pay day! haha and about the Sally Light Foot! Well ****, mine is full grown they only get around 3 inches right? Mine is definitely 3 inches! haha I will definitaly have to watch that. Good heads up bro.

Cosmo, HAHA Thanks!, Jeeze i feel like a retard now. Thats a no brainer. The med dont say anything about a water change, even after medication. So i will do the 20% 24 hrs after tomorrow. Yeah and I hear ya about the LFS.

yeah just float your cursor over any abbreviation you see and it;ll prob show ya what it means!

But i'd make the DI unit priority 1! Bad water means more hassle!

As for your ebay finds! I'd really research before buying! esoecially with the uv! you don't need that yet, if ever! I have 1 but its not really necessary and borderline, not recommended!

Reme, ber grasshopper, thiis hobby is about patience, the more you rush, the more money you waste and spend! research research research! take your time! it'll save ya $100's! i have a much better skimmer i'll sell ya for slitghlty more than that because i hate how ugly it was in my tank!

dude, i'm really not trying to crap on your finds, but trust me, this hobby ain't about cheaping out! i have a box full of equipment that is borderline useless! From maxijets(sorry but crap) to a skimmer that works great but was ugly, to the cheapo T5 lights on ebay! ya get what ya pay for! I'd suggext just pausing for a bit! Ya don't need any of the equipment you posted now! Get the DI add on first! then the skimmer, then the uv if ya are set on it! I'd also add an extra heater and thermometer before most of those!

Check this thread out: http://www.3reef.com/forums/filters-pumps-etc/uv-sterilizer-worth-128447.html I don't think you need one just yet. I would use the money for something else right now. I use a CPR BakPak for my skimmer. I do have a 9 watt Odyssea UV Sterilizer. I also have a 4 bulb 36" Odyssea T5 light fixture, but I will be upgrading that when I get the chance.

If you can, buy stuff that you wont have to upgrade later on. It will end up saving in money. I haven't heard of the brand of protein skimmer, but it will probably work just fine. :) Just research everything and ask plenty of questions.

yeah plus 1 to sticksmith, I'd be leary though of a skimmer for $35 that most decent ones cost $100 more! There may be a reason they cost that much and that is sooooo cheap! I'm just skeptical of dropping things in my tank that plugs into a wall that is that cheap!

BTW get a grounding probe for your tank! Cheap!

Well the only thing I was thinking about buying was a UV sterilizer bro. If you don't think it is necessary, that saves me $35, which isnt crap to spend in this hobby, like you said. I think you misunderstood me, I already have the protein skimmer, just wanted to post the link to show you which one it was. I have had it for a while now. LOL i got a heater, don't see why I would need another one unless this one was to break? Why do you recommend 2? and why 2 temp sticks? LOL If your circulation is good, the tank should be the same temp in every spot, right?
