Something I've noticed in all of my years in the hobby and on the forums is a discrepancy in max fish size that are bandied about. For instance, LA uses the max WILD CAUGHT size from Fish Base, and this works, assuming a full-grown WC adult fish comes in. However, IME, as well as that of others whom I've communicated with, a juvie or sub-adult specimen raised in captivity will generally only reach about 75% - 80% of the maximum WC adult size.

One should also be mindful of whether the size quoted is total length (TL) (which includes the caudal fin) or standard length (SL) which stops at the end of the caudal peduncle.

I agree with your assessment/observations. 75-80% of the max wild length seems about right.

I also find it frustrating with not many adhering to any consistency with regards to total/standard length.
