I am pretty sure you got a false perc sold to you as a true. Not sure how that will turn out with compatibility. Pack is checking for you.

Ok looking back, I would say the new guy is definitely a false, with the existing clown being a true. From what I could gather that combo would have about a 50/50 chance of pairing up, or the new one being rejected for as long as he is in their. One cool thing if they did breed, is that you would have a very high percentage of misbar's. But this is what I could gather info wise, so other's may have some more to throw in.
The one bad thing, is that it looks like the existing clown is already hosting? If thats the case, the chances of ever pairing up a clown with it will be dramatically decreased. It may never accept any clown, whether it's a false or true. If trying to pair a clowns, they should be added to the tank at the same time, or at least before one ever has the chance (or at least the organism) to host.

Yeah, thats why I posted the bag ppictures. i wanted someone else to say that so i didnt feel like i was going crazy. What do i do if it is a false perc? Will they kill eachother if it is a false perc? I dont want them to mate, I just want them to get along. i thought my clownfish was lonely, but he is such a grump with the new fish. Maybe I should have just gone with the mandrin goby...

Just see if it gets better. Give it some time.
And a mandarin has a 0% chance of surviving in your tank :-/

Funny I was going to say something about it not looking like a true perc! I just did not want to ruin your moment.

Yeah, well its alright. I'd rather know. I guess we will just have to wait it out. Why does a mandrin have no chance in my tank? because its so small? I just wanted one because I have so many copepods or whatever they are called in my tank. Ill let you guys know if anything sudden happens to the fish. my boyfriend is hoping its going to die now. i wish he wasnt so negative about this. i told him it would all be fine.

The problem the smaller tanks is they are much harder to keep your levels stable and the Mandarin is a very sensitive fish. Also he will devour the copepods you have in your tank. You would really need to have another copepod breeder tank setup or have a constant supply being delivered. Most of the people that have Mandarin (and keep them successfully) have larger reef tanks which have been established for a long time and also have refugiums with cheeto which the copepods will breed in.

Well, I think my water stability is great, my bubble tip anemone is still alive, and growing, so I dont think the water would be a problem. i dont know how I do it, but i have really good water. My LFS sells bottles of live copepods. So, i dont think food would be a problem as well. Anyways, it doesnt matter because im not going to get one. not until we set up a bigger tank. Thanks though

You dont have the size or rock to sustain a population well enough for a mandarin. Heck, I have about 90 pounds of rock and cant do it. I have a seperate system for breeding pods to keep the mandarin, but with such a small tank, I dont know how well even that would work, unless you went really large scale.
