    For growing corals, you'll get more light from this situation. It has more to do with the angle though, a window doesn't filter out much light.

    Algae need light to utilize nutrients. A well maintained tank will have low enough nutrient levels that excess light is not an issue. After all, there are a lot of pristine reefs exposed to sunlight :)
