there's a few stories on the web of people having success with them, and mainly b/c of what you said nanoreefer. mine looks pretty bad today. i'm going to try some 'coral frenzy' if i can get it at the lfs...

some lfs, some me.:dizzy: lfs did label it PJ cardinal, but i kept calling in bengaii after reading about both... sorry.

little update from the morons tank. the flowerpot looks like poo - not expanding much. i'm trying a small dose of invert food prep to see if it helps.

diatoms are starting to collect, so i added a few hermits/snails. while at the reef shop (not the lfs), picked up a zoa, xenia, and montipora.

also rescued a sponge from my 75 gal, where the koran angel had started eating it.

That flowerpot is going to die under those lights of yours. Sorry to say. I had the same thing happen. Sold a flowerpot under the pretense that it would do well under PCs. Bad idea. Bad idea under any lighting condition I found out. I kept mine for a month and returned it to the LFS the first chance I got so it would have a chance at life. It was going to die for sure in my tank. It never really opened up like it did under their halides. Sorry you were suckered in. Even if they do not give you credit, I would take it back. And if they sold you those PJs under false pretense (even a discussion counts), I would lodge a complaint. Even if you got store credit, you could use it for something other than livestock. I am going to stop typing now. The more I type the angrier I get at these people............Peace.........I think.......John.

    pic update

so the flowerpot died - pretty quickly. Lesson learned. Everything else in the tank is doing well. After removing flowerpot, the nitrates came back down. I figured i'd post a little pic update to keep track of this nano experiment.

    update

this little tank provides some drama. i couldn't help but do something else dumb after the goni - once it died, i saw a small pink-tipped anenome at the lfs and figured i'd try it. i have two btas in my 75 at home, and they've been easy to sustain. this was the wrong anenome, wrong tank, wrong time. the little guy died in about a week, and took the tank with it - xenia shrivelled, monti frag died, tank bloomed with cyano and algae. the cardinal died despite daily water changes after getting the anenome body out.

so it's been a while since that now. the cyano, diatoms, and algae are all coming under control of the expanded cuc of 2 peppermints, 2 small turbos, 1 astrea, 2 nassarius, and 2 hermits. the water has cleared up fully. i've added a small current nano skimmer, that mostly just adds microbubbles to the system. xenia recovered, but is paler in color now. zoas are also open again, and a new mushroom polyp i added is opening nicely.

wonder what i can do wrong next...

gonioporas tend to occur in lagoon like settings where the sediment infauna is abundant. They tend to be a lower flow environment, and a little "dirtier", for lack of a better word. After all Lagoons and harbours are the worlds refugiums. Anyways, Gonioporas want a very large tank with a lot of sand, i mean a lot, generating a lot of stuff. they really are beautiful when full and healthy, thats why people are always trying them.
