    So much to learn

Thanks, I remember this site from 6 years ago before the ice stormed killed everything I had. As soon I got the itch to go back reefing I went to this site and opened up a website of knowledge and a wealth of great people.

My next system will have a dedicated Refugium. Currently I have a Sump/Refugium. It seems to be working well but by design it cannot be optimal.

Sometimes I will sit and look at the fuge. It is quite interesting.

This is an old picture. It has grown and matured well. I will take another picture later.

    Ice storm sucked

Yes that was it and I was new into the reefing world and learned the hard way why people have generators!!!!

This time I am just doing a 28g HQi JBJ Nano tank to start with. I definately want to do some stony corals this time and I hope I can get some freebies because this hobby is expensive :)

Funny, it is like learning all over again since I have been away things have changed a lot! When someine told me to only put a 1" sand bed in I looked at them like they were crazy :)

Tangster, what kind of light do have over your refuge?

Yes I put that Nat. gas unit in as I had several Gasoline Gens from the shop But we had the hurricanes and then tornadoes all that one week like two hurricanes and then 5 Tornado's and all the Service stations where closed I had a LPG conversion kit at the shop for the Honda Motor and several tanks of LP :) for melting lead and thawing pipes and temp heaters I converted a Honda then I installed that Nat Gas unit .

If you where on any board I was then just 6 to 8 yrs a go ? even 13 yrs or more I was telling them all where the DSB where heading :) Not much has really changed other then the old pendulum is just going back to the basics . I never left them myself Until I have a problem I'll never change the way i do things.

I have a red Led and a old 2 lamp 24 in Fluorescent tube from a ceiling fixture I changed out .. I run N.O Sylvania grow lux plant tubes in the fixture.

    Somethings never change

Tangster, we were out of power for two weeks! I stayed with a friend and when I went back to check on the tanks when the road was clear it was not a happy day. It looked like waste land and stunk like well you know.

One thing I have noticed is that the internet has given us consumers more pull at the LFS. The Nano-Cube I wanted was about $200.00 more at LFS with the stand. I went online and found it for a better price and the LFS matched it which was nice because then I didn't have to pay for shipping or wait :)

I am still in debate on the fuge and how I want to cycle, right now and how I will probably cycle is just let the rock and the live sand do it's thing. Unless I get a better idea on here.

Oh yeah I did hear about new lights that are out but you have to refinance your home to afford them :) I am sure they will come down in time but not for me at this time.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! but a couple more questions :)

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone! My tank is almost finished cycling and really didn't have too much diatom bloom.
I am still going to wait a week or so then do a water change and clean up some and then get to work :)
I would still love to get e refugium on this tank but hadn't figured out which way I want to go. Also it has been in the high 90's here lately but my tank is staying at from 78-81 without a chiller or anything. I am debating if I want to do that investment. The more I read about the reef temps where most corals come from then I think maybe my temp of mainly 80 constantly may work. Any ideas on that subject??????
