I have a new tank setup and in the process of breaking in my in sump skimmer. I have it raised so it sits in about 5.25 in ow water and it has been a pain to get it right. It either overflows, or does nothing. Its only been a few days, but I am not sure the best way to break it in. Should I allow it to keep bubbling over, or keep the bubbles low?

Also my limited experience makes me wonder if every time I change the filter sock if it will go crazy-I hate protein skimmers!

Lastly, is this skimmer too big for my 90 gallon tank. I attached a picture. IMG_0199.JPG

Did the skimmer go through a vinegar dip to removed any manufacturing oils before putting it in the sump? if not, this is just the way it will be for awhile. just let it do its thing for a week or so. That skimmer is fine for your tank.

+1,they can take a few days to a week or so to start behaving well.I would keep it turned down and each day turn it up a little more till it starts producing some skimmate.
