I can't seem to get my tank lower than 81. The temp of the room it is in is about 77.
I have LED lights and when I put my hand under it I feel little heat.
I have looked into chillers, but they seem way expensive.

I have a glass top and then my LEDs are about 11 inches from water. Does it make sense to remove the glass top or does that expose it to more of the heat from the lamps.
When people are suggesting fans, are you directing them to the top of the water of the tank or the sump?
Does anyone have a suggestion for a fan for a 65 gallon tank. I have seen some listed but they advertise for nanos. What do I need for a 65 gallon? Thanks for the suggestions.

Would adding a submersible power head in the tank pointed upwards to cause more water flow at the top with the lid off assist with cooling?

One thing lose the glass top and get a screen top. Another reason to lose glass top is it will prevent some of your spectrum from getting to the coral if you have any
Remember LEDs don't produce as much heat. Also you have a sump if so put the fans over that

That's what I did an it dropped like 3 degrees in no time. Glass can keep heat in just think of a greenhouse it keeps heat and moisture in

is a screen top necessary? Meaning do I have to have a top. I don't have any jumpers.

A lot of people run their tanks without tops...

removing the glass tops allows for more evaporation which will cool your tank

I run my tank topless (oh yeah!) I think this helps gas exchange as well. I'm assuming you have a heater in the system?

Just for reference I use a single cheap heater rated for a 200l tank in my 450l and temp is stable at 26 Celsius

What is your stock list, out of curiosity. Even Clowns have been known to jump after even a couple years...

But as mentioned, all you need is a small fan (desktop, or even a computer case fan) to cool down a tank of that size. An ATO is a must with this due to the increased evaporation rate.

I am also interested to see what people say about the fan.. I was considering putting one over my sump to help with cooling but I don't know the first thing about it. Can you just use a clip-on fan, or whatever you find that'll fit down there? Is there really anything to know about it?

If your sump is enclosed under a stand it may not help. Ive seen people cut vents into each side of a stand and employ computer fans and this can help ALOT. Also you can connect them to a controller to only run when the tank temp gets high. Pretty cool
