Are 29 gallon tanks usually tempered on the bottom? The tank was made by Tetra. I want to make it into a RR tank with a standpipe. I am asking about the bottom as I want to have plumbing go directly under the tank & into the fuge.

Is it new? Usually if it's tempered there will be a little sticker on it.

Doesn't necessarily have to be on the bottom. Plus you use up vital "Real Estate".

    glass holes.com ;D

Well I wanted to have the tank right up against the wall, but for such a small tank, you do have a point.

I think I will drill the back. I don't really want to use an OF box.

Though I do have to say...I do like the glass holes OF box where it is just to go around the OF section.

Those guys are great. They may even make one just for your 29g. They respond to emails too.

Sweet. I saw the nano OF box(3.5" X 3.5" X 1.5"). Well when I get to that part, I will go to them.

I think first I will figure out where to put my current livestock & then skin the tank.

....oh yeah, this isn't my build thread. ::)

+1 they are very responsive and have great service! I just drilled my holes for a 700 GPH overflow box from gl*******s.com. The bit they sent me was a little warped but they sent me a new one and I had it in 2 days after calling them.

You may want to try and look at you glass through a polorized lense or polarized sunglasses. I was able to see the difference between the tempered and non-tempered glass. Good luck with the drilling! ;)

I drilled my 29 with GH overflow. Don't get one that's too small. I have the one rated at 300 gph. Any smaller and you may not get as much flow through it as you want.

I forgot about this trick. :p I'll do that...once I get a pair of polarized glasses. Actually, I'll just use the LCD screen on my laptop.

Thanks for the advice too, Nurse Reefer.
