    TDS readings IN the tank!

Of course a TDS reading will be high- it's salt water.

Either you mean a nitrate reading in the tank, or someone is confused and reading a TDS meter on the Tank water.

Or unless you mean the TDS of top-off water is high? But as mentioned, TDS of saltwater is indeed very high! TDS measures total dissolved solids, which there are obviously plenty of in salt water :)

His top off bucket tank has been cycled for 2 months?

I think you are saying that his top off water has high TDS? If so, why? Is he not able to install an RO/DI system, or buy DI water?

What kind of water is in his ATO bucket? RODI, Distilled, etc.... if tds reading is anywhere between 0-3 it should be good! Keep in mind the ideal TDS reading for corals is 0

He's going to have a fun time fighting algae hahaha. If I'm not mistaken, I think some softy corals can withstand and thrive under "dirty water".

Just out of curiosity, what is the TDS reading of his topoff water? Are you checking it with a handheld tds meter or are you assuming its high?
