    ...looks like Santa Cruz is getting about 15 inches...fast.
    tank1970...I think the debris in the pull out wave would wipe out any reef structures...in the Japan area...but I don't think it was so bad here off our coast...maybe, I might say beneficial to reefs ?...coral snow storm?..I don't know..jmo.

    Tsunami's not the only concern here nor the flooding. One of their nuclear reactor is warmi g up and having cooling problems due to no power. If it heats up, radiation leak could occur which can result to a meltdown. Japan asked US of A for help. Our prayers gies to Japan. :(

    I moved out of Hurricane country into Earthquake country..... lovely.

    Those poor people. Can you imagine what they are going through right now? No we can't, I guess.

    I think I read somewhere that the tsunami in 2004 actually helped the corals very much because it got rid of a huge pest algae problem that was going on in the region. I'll see if I can find some reading on it.

    Edit: I'm also reading that it damage coral reef systems... so I don't know.

    As a Japanese, thanks for the warmest words, people. Unfortunately more than 1,000 people died and counting, and more than double missing.. My family and friends are all accounted for.

    Pray for them, all I can do now.

    wow man thats so sad, glad your friends and family are okay and def pray for the rest :-/, It was really kinda breakin my heart when I was watching the news as the first reports were coming in they had the fricken nerve to say there was only 1 death :( I could clearly see people that were getting smashed from the wall of water, I hate seeing disasters like this :cry:
