These white/clear tubes have been growing (and slightly multiplying).

They wave freely in the current and don't seem to bother anything.

What are they? Worms? Are they evil? Should I cut them off, ignore them, or tie them in knots?

Its hard to see in the pic, but I have seen many tube worms secrete a "web" like filament that looks like fishing line. They use it to "catch" organics in the water column. Anyway you can get a better pic? Whats the string coming from?

The string is coming from a rock. LR.

It's the back of my tank and I can only see it looking through the side. My eyeballs can see it's coming out of the rock, but the camera can not get the same angle as my eyeball.

It is all relegated to one section.

    Thanks!

Quick google scan - seems to me Spaghetti worm and Chaetopterid are different things. Correct?

    Are either harmful or beneficial?

I'm reading about them right now, on google, but it's more informational than it is 'reef safe' or 'not reef safe' as I've grown to love from you folks.

I managed to move the rock. When they come back out, I will be able to get a pic of them where they come out at. I will post it.

Pic is no better, it's too hard to see.

But what I do now know is that there are 4 'noodles' that all come out of the same hole. I see them going in and out of the hole (dragging stuff in with them). So it's 4, not 2 as asked earlier.

Also, it's coming out of a hole, not out of a tube. Does this change anything? Perhaps it simply has yet to build a tube.

    Watcha think?

If it is spaghetti worm or Chaetopterid does any one know a good source of info on them? I'd like to find out if they pose a threat now or down the road and what I can expect in terms of growing, making a tube (how big a tube might it make) and if it will multiply out of control.

    Thanks
