Looking for opinions on the Tunze 9005 skimmer. I have had it running for a year now and like it, but am wondering if it may not be working as well anymore. I have cleaned and soaked the pump. It just seems like I am starting to adjust the air screw more to tune it.

It the drop in performance is sudden, short lived, and continues after a cleaning; it might be more attributable to changes in your tank (for the better) than to anything wrong with the skimmer. Would you say your bioload has decreased?

If it's been a gradual decrease in performance, and continues after your cleaning the skimmer, then it might be something amiss with the skimmer, or more likely the pump; such as its ability to introduce air into the mix.

if you have been up to date on maintenance with the skimmer than your tank has changed not your skimmer, once the skimmer has taken out what its designed for and the amount has lessened then minor adjustments need to take place.
