turbo snail squirting "stuff"

    I was cleaning my tank this morning and one of my large turbo snail squirted some milky stuff into the aquarium a few times. Liquid...no form. Is this sperm? My b lenny seems to like it bit could it be a toxin?

    I had an astrea doing the same a couple of weeks ago. Don't know exactly what it was, but it didn't seem to affect anything.

    I always thought it was their way of expelling waste.

    No, they leave little 'droppings' on the rocks for that. This is a milky substance. I've only seen it once, and in my case, it made the tank cloudy for a few minutes.

    Oh wow because my 3 astrea do it probably once a week but its a very small amount and usually yellowish tan in color.

    Two different things I guess.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    I believe Turbos are broadcast spawners. Maybe pagojoe will see this thread and confirm. Either way it's harmless.
