    GGGGRRRRR....

Ok I am pretty upset. I am in the middle of my cycle and it has been about 5 days with the Nitrites at 5.0ppm or higher. I lost 2 Snails yesterday and a 3rd seems to be on his way out as well. Is there anything I can do to drop the Nitrites without hurting my cycle?

There is nothing you can do with your cycle except wait. The snails should'nt be in such a new tank. If I were you, I'd shut down the lighting and forget about the tank for a couple/few weeks. Only run your actinic lighting. Use this couple/few weeks to study up and plan for what you want to keep in the tank..........

I agree with mission, snails and inverts in general require good water quality and stability. Having any sort of snail, or even a fish with that high of nitrites was a mistake. Hopefully you can learn and move on. At least you didn't buy something expensive and put it in there. Remember, this hobby requires patience. I remember when I first started my tank, my family and friends kept on complaining that there was nothing in there, i just ignored them.
