I also used to had the same problem. My solution is a) add another airline by sticking into the entrance to the pump or b) getting longer tubing between the output of the pump and entrance into the skimmer which will add friction to the flow and slow things down. Then use the two flow knobs at the output end of that skimmer to adjust the water level futhermore.

BTW, I purchased my multi w/o the orginal pump so its currently running a an equal needlewheel (Reef Octopus 2000). Oh sweet sweet microbubbles.
