    Hello,

I recently ordered that reef package for a 20-55 gallon tank from saltwaterfish.com. It came with 20 turbos, 5 Nassarius, 10 blue-leg, 10 scarlet, 2 brittle stars, 1 coral banded shrimp, and 3 emeralds.

Everything seems to be doing well, except for the turbos. The Nassarius' are moving around like crazy, playin in the sand and movin all around the tank...as are the brittles (who mostly come out from the rockwork when the lights go off) and the emeralds (same deal), and all the hermits, not to mention Rummy (the coral banded) who is just a blast to watch! Why do the turbos seems to remain still and look lifeless? Most of them have moved to the top of the tank and are just chillin at water level stuck to the wall...any ideas??? My water parameters that I have tested (Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, SG) are all perfect and everyone else is doing well! Temp is 77-78 degrees and the standard flourescent light is on from 8am-5:30pm.

Any ideas as to why the turbos are acting strangely (aka...not doing anything)?????

    Thanks, Mike

Mine do the same thing on occasion. Not to worry. They are feeding on the algea that forms on the glass.

And it doesnt even matter that their little sucker mouths arent even moving? They look lifeless. Some of them (like 2 of them) have even fallen down to the sand and are just laying there...

That would concern me. Make sure that if they are dying you get them out of there before they stink up your water. I would just try to ensure they are really dead before I threw them out.

Thats the weird thing though...they are literally just stuck to the side of the tank...havent moved for days and are just kinda chillin there...would they still be stuck to the side of the tank if dead? And why would it be just them that has the problem? Would it be something that I'm doing wrong? or maybe a bum batch from saltwaterfish.com?

If they are stuck to the glass, they are probably fine :D

If they fall to the sand, check on them, sometimes they can't right themselves. I am turning mine right side up all the time ;)

Yeah, I fixed them cause they were lying upside down and everything is fine now...they just don't move nearly as much as the Nass's do!  And as far as dying things go...one of my hermits died and he was immediately eaten by the shrimp and other hermits (kinda weird to watch)!  Then his home was stolen...another hermit came over and moved into his shell...yuck!

But anyway, I named the fish...

The two 3-stripes are George and D ick (the one who struggles a little bit -- looks a little less healthy, but not any real problems)

Thats all for now...thanks for the help everyone, especially Birdlady...I guess I will just have to be fixing them all the time!
