My tank has been setup for about 8 months now. its a 125gal with a 55gal made into a sump. I have a durso standpipe for the overflow, and when the water empties into the sump it brings with it a lot of air, i'm currently using a filter sock so atleast I dont have a lot of bubbles popping causing water to go everywere. It's a single overflow, I tried one 1" pipe with holes then one with slits... I was thinking maybe a small trap with a T so the air can escape then water goes down?? or maybe making one pipe into 2? how do you guys prevent a lot of bubbles into the sump?

You may want to take a look at your durso then. Mine really doesn't have a lot of bubbles going to my skimmer chamber. The best way to divert water is to use a T, followed by a ball valve (or better yet gate valve). This is discussed quite a bit on some other refugium threads here, i'd take a look at those as they should be of great help to you.

This is what I did for my setup. If you look at the pic of the sump, it is at the far right side.

The main pipe comes down and does a 90 turn towards the front of the sump. It has 2 Ts in it with pipes extending upwards, then and exit 90 down. What this allows is a way for air to escape without throwing bubbles around. Works better if you up the size of pipe from the down pipes.

I modified the drain on my sump and it helped reduce bubbles in the sump tremendously.
