Another use I discovered last night:

Blasting a hole in the sand under a rock to encourage a pistol shrimp to excavate a burrow in the right place! :D

It is my main acclimation tool - need to get a longer one to feed my corals at the bottom of my 150 though

how does it work with feeding fish flake food? (yes I know it's a silly question) would you let the flake food/cubes sit it bowl of water for a little bit to where they are soft enough to be siphoned up the baster?

Hardly a silly question and in fact a good method of using the TB IMHO!

That would work well - putting the flakes in a small dish or bowl (of either fresh RO/DI fresh saltwater or even tankwater - just dont use tap) and let them get wet (you can also use the TB as a stirring device!) and then suck em up and feed away!!

The big advantage I see here is twofold:
-you are keeping your hands from contacting the water of your tank which is a plus
-you will be sure that the flakes do not just float on the top of the water and get skimmed off!

Good tool for the money - use it to feed the corals of the 430 Gallon at work.

Have had it for going on a year now - works really well!

If yours has volume measurement ticks on the side like mine, you can use it to dose if you have a large tank!

Another great use. Mine is graduated as well, but I have never used it for that purpose.
My tank is relatively small, so I use a medicine syringe (without the needle of course)
to dose my tanks with CaCl; I picked it up for free at a Target pharmacy.
